The old concept of lifetime employment is virtually extinct, and the current economic climate has led to many layoffs and job insecurity. Because careers don't travel in straight lines, we're constantly reinventing ourselves. This requires increasingly proactive management of all stages of career cycles and, especially, the beginning and ending of each job. This PennNYC and Penn Club of New York co-sponsored panel has the intention to help you stay on track.
The panelists:
George Bradt (WG'85) founded the executive onboarding and transition acceleration group -- PrimeGenesis -- in 2002. George is the author of The New Leader's 100-Day Action Plan (Wiley, April, 2006).
Chuck Forgang (W'78) is a New York-based executive employment and corporate attorney. His practice -- www.forganglaw.com -- focuses on advising clients with respect to their employment and other professional relationships, and in particular the negotiation and structuring of employment agreements, severance agreements, consulting agreements, and related equity or partnership arrangements.

Important Reminder: PACNet – Penn Alumni Career Network
Given these economic times, we wanted to remind you of the Penn Alumni Career Network (PACNet). PACNet is a searchable database of alumni who have volunteered to provide career-related guidance and support to current students and fellow alumni. Whether you have three weeks or 30 years of professional experience, career networking is an integral part of your professional development. While there are many forums – both formal and informal – for such networking, PACNet is the only one EXCLUSIVE to members of the Penn Alumni community. Search PACNet based on career field, geography, undergraduate and/or graduate degree, and more. Below are instructions on how to join PACNet as an advisor or to search for a career advisor:
- Log in to QuakerNet, the Penn Alumni online community. Note: if you do not have a QuakerNet account, click on “First time here? Register now.”
- Upon signing in to QuakerNet, navigate to PACNet using the left hand toolbar.
- Choose “Manage advisor profile” to create and update your profile with academic history, professional experience, and contact/networking preferences.
- Choose “Search for a career advisor” and search the database by industry, employer, job function, academic institution, etc.
